Hanoi (VNA) – Over 230 Vietnamese citizens were brought home from Thailand on a flight of national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines on October 1 as a joint effort of competent authorities of both nations.

The passengers included children under 18, the elderly, people with illnesses, pregnant women, and others in disadvantaged circumstances.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand sent staff to the airport to help the citizens with procedures before departure.

Security, safety and epidemiological hygiene measures were rigorously implemented during the flight to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Upon their arrival at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, all the crew members and passengers on the flight were given medical checkups and put under quarantine in line with regulations.

In the time to come, more repatriation flights will be arranged to fly Vietnamese citizens home, depending on their demand and domestic quarantine capacity./.
