Over 2.6 million USD raised for flood victims via fatherland front

Ministries, agencies, individuals and organisations have so far donated 62 billion VND (2.69 million USD) to flood-hit victims in the central and Central Highlands regions.

Hanoi (VNA) – Ministries, agencies, individuals and organisations have sofar donated 62 billion VND (2.69 million USD) to flood-hit victims in thecentral and Central Highlands regions via the National Relief Fund and VietnamFatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee.

The sum was raised in response to appeals of President ofthe VFF Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan to support victims of flood,drought and saline intrusion last year.

On January 19, a representative from the Radio theVoice of Vietnam (VOV) handed over 105 million VND (4,500 USD) to the VFF CentralCommittee in Hanoi on January 19 to aid flood-hit victims in the centralregion.  

In the past,the VOV raised 621 million VND (27,000 USD) for the effort and called onindividuals and organisations to work together for the victims.

Speaking atthe event, Vice President and Secretary General of the VFF Central CommitteeTran Thanh Man pledged to transfer the sum to the victims as soon as possibleahead of the upcoming Lunar New Year.

He said last year, the country incurred lossesfrom disasters, including the marine environment incident./.

FLC appeal hearing postponed, giving more time for compensation

After discussions and listening to opinions from lawyers, defendants, and victims present at the trial, the judicial panel stated that postponing the appeal hearing for Trinh Van Quyet, ex-chairman of FLC Group, is necessary to ensure the rights of the victims. The postponement aims to give the defendants and their families more time to pay compensation for victims and those with related rights and obligations.
