The Association of Overseas Vietnamese in Angola’s western Benguela province has presented 25 tonnes of rice to the poor in the province.
The association’s representatives and Vietnamese Ambassador to Angola Do Ba Khoa handed over the donated rice worth over 25,000 USD to the province’s authorities on December 14.
Benguela’s Governor Isaac Maria dos Anjos praised the meaningful deed of the Vietnamese expatriates towards the province’s needy people. He said the rice will be delivered to 2,500 disadvantaged households of Angolan refugees, who just recently returned home, before Christmas.
This is the second time the Vietnamese living in Angola have donated to help the disadvantaged in the host country.
Early next year, the Overseas Vietnamese Association in nearby Huambo province also plans to give 20 tonnes of rice to local needy people.-VNA
