Jakarta (VNA) – Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong met Vice Chairmen ofthe People’s Consultative Assembly of Indonesia Evert Ernest Mangindaan andHidayat Nur Wahdid in Jakarta on August 22.

Trongtold them that his visit, at the invitation of President Joko Widodo, aims toreach consensus on orientations to further deepening bilateral strategicpartnership and strengthening political trust.

Mangindaanaffirmed that Indonesia always treasures ties with Vietnam for the benefit ofthe two peoples and believed that the visit would promote bilateral linksacross politics, national defence-security, economy, trade, investment,culture, education, tourism, people-to-people exchange and cooperation betweenlocalities.

Bothsides expressed wish that the two legislatures would actively contribute toVietnam-Indonesia strategic partnership via building legal documents andissuing favourable mechanisms for the two countries’ economy, trade andinvestment.

Theyagreed that the Vietnamese National Assembly and the People’s ConsultativeAssembly of Indonesia should facilitate visits by their senior leaders andofficials, regularly share information and offer mutual support at regional andglobal parliamentary forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), theASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) and the Asia-Pacific ParliamentaryForum (APFF).
