Vientiane (VNA) - Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was a witted politician, a scientist, a professor, and an exemplary leader, stated Lao Minister of Technology and Communications Boviengkham Vongdara, who is also Chairman of the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association, while talking about his memories of the Party chief.

Speaking to the Vietnam News Agency in Vientiane on July 20, the Lao official said that books by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong are priceless heritage, demonstrating his concern about Vietnam's national development, the spirit of great solidarity, and the fight against corruption, as well as the building and developing of a prosperous, strong, civilised, and happy Vietnam. Academician Vongdara affirmed that these were the great and invaluable contributions by the late leader.

He held that the Party leader's contributions in the path to socialism has been spotlighted in his book entitled “Some theoretical and practical issues on socialism and the path towards socialism in Vietnam”, which highlights the application of Marxism-Leninism ideology in Vietnam and the role and significance of the Communist Party inthe journey to socialism as well as in the building of a market economy under the Party's leadership.

Vongdara said that the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) will study and apply Party General Secretary Trong's experience and ideology, which are helpful for Lao people and those of the countries that are heading to socialism.

The Lao official underlined that the Vietnamese Party leader paid great attention to human resources training, culture and people development, which was demonstrated in his writing on the occasion of the 94th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and his speech at the meeting to prepare personnel for the 14th National Party Congress.

In external relations and international diplomacy, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong initiated the diplomatic policy featuring Vietnamese bamboo, the national symbol of Vietnam that can be found in any rural village.

According to Vongdara, this policy is in line with President Ho Chi Minh's ideology, which underlines the steadiness of strategy and flexibility in tactics. The Lao official commented that this is a wise diplomatic policy.

Mentioning the development of Vietnam's relations with other countries and especially Laos, Vongdara affirmed that Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was greatly interested in building ties with other countries and paid huge attention to the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States, and peoples of Vietnam and Laos

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong once said that it is a priceless legacy that President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone and President Suphanouvong laid the foundation and nurtured the evergreen ties between the two countries.

The official recalled his memories of his chances to meet the Vietnamese Party leader and his reminding of the need to maintain the special solidarity, great friendship, and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

Vongdara highlighted his own impression of Party General Secretary Trong, who had warm handshakes and slow speaking, just like when a senior guides their children and grandchildren.

The Lao official said that the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association will work to help the young generation to realise the Vietnamese Party leader's teachings in nurturing the youth and building a contingent of good personnel for the Party to inherit the Party's career and deepen the ties between the two countries.

Vongdara stressed that Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was a humble leader who never sought personal gain. He was the nucleus of leadership in the fight against corruption, the nucleus of leadership in the work of Party building and rectifying, and the nucleus of solidarity of the people, and a leader who always worked for the benefit of the people.

The Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association and the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association will continue to use the lessons and examples of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to educate the young generation of the two countries to bond with each other more deeply./.
