Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong received in Hanoi on Sept. 1 the Cuban special envoy of the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee, who was in Vietnam to inform its leaders of the results of Cuba’s 6 th Party Congress and prepare for the upcoming national Party conference.
The Party leader welcomed Cuban special envoy Jose Ramon Balaguer and highly valued Cuba ’s deployment of the special envoy to Vietnam , describing it as a vivid manifestation of the solidarity, traditional friendship and mutual confidence between the two Parties.
He congratulated the Communist Party of Cuba on the outcomes of its 6 th Congress, evaluating this as a historic congress with a significant opportunity to orient the Cuban revolution’s future.
He affirmed that the Party and people of Vietnam always stood side by side and supported the Cuban people and were determined to strengthen the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States and peoples, lifting Vietnam-Cuba relations to a new level.
Jose Ramon Balaguer, the special envoy of Raul Castro, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and President of the Council of State and the Council of the Ministers of Cuba, said the upcoming national Party conference scheduled for next January would adjust high-level personnel, study and change the working mode to consolidate combat capacity and ensure the inheritance of the Party.
The 6 th Party Congress discussed and adopted the roadmap to update the country’s future economic model with a view to raising labour efficiency and promoting production, which will help Cuba overcome current difficulties and shortcomings, as well as protect achievements recorded by the Cuban revolutionary during the past 50 years, according to the special envoy, who is member of the Secretariat and Head of the Commission for External Relations of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee.
He said he was impressed by achievements of Vietnam ’s modernisation process, saying that the successes will open a new stage in the national construction and defence and help Vietnam implement its goal of “a rich people, a strong country with an equal, democratic and civilised society”. They were valuable experience for Cuba to learn from.
Cuba will spare no effort to strengthen and develop the traditional, pure and faithful relations between the two Parties and countries, the special envoy said./.
