Party leader wraps up RoK visit

During his stay fromOctober 1-4, the Party leader held talks with the RoK President, and metwith Prime Minister Chung Hong Won, National Assembly Speaker Chung UiHwa and Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Saenuri Party KimMoo-Sung.

He also visited Busan city andthe Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, and received leaders ofseveral leading RoK groups and enterprises.

Inthe talks and meetings, the two sides discussed important and practicalissues related to bilateral ties as well as regional and internationalissues of mutual concern.

The two sides adopted aseven-point joint statement, which put forward major orientations andmeasures to step up cooperation in politics, diplomacy, trade,investment and security and defence.

They signedfour cooperative agreements, including a credit programme worth 12billion USD to assist prioritised development projects in Vietnam.

The Communist Party of Vietnam and the Saenuri Party inked a documenton cooperation for the 2015-2016 period on the basis of their 2011Memorandum of Understanding.

Later the same day,General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong sent a message to RoK President ParkGeun Hye expressing his thanks for the warm reception and the friendlysentiments that RoK leaders and people had given to him and theVietnamese delegation.

In the message, the Partyleader expressed his belief that the outcomes of the visit willcontribute importantly to boosting the Vietnam-RoK strategic cooperativepartnership comprehensively and deeply, for common prosperity of thetwo countries, for happiness of the two peoples and for peace anddevelopment in Asia.

“I bring home with me deepimpressions of a beautiful and prosperous Republic of Korea in strongdevelopment and the friendly and hospitable Koreans as well as a firmbelief in the bright future of the friendship and cooperation betweenour two countries,” Nguyen Phu Trong wrote in the message.-VNA

To further strengthen Vietnam-Belgium relations, especially parliamentary cooperation, both sides agreed to enhance delegation exchanges at all levels, particularly between parliamentary committees and friendship groups. They also pledged to share legislative and supervisory experience, coordinate positions in international organisations, support each other’s candidacies for UN bodies, and effectively implement the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).
