Party official visits Buddhists in southern localities

Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and head of its Mass Mobilisation Commission Truong Thi Mai on May 5 visited and extended greetings to Buddhist dignitaries in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on the occasion of the Buddha’s 2563rd birth anniversary.

Can Tho (VNA) – Politburo member, Secretary of theParty Central Committee and head of its Mass Mobilisation Commission Truong ThiMai on May 5 visited and extended greetings to Buddhist dignitaries in theMekong Delta city of Can Tho on the occasion of the Buddha’s 2563rd birthanniversary.

On behalf of the Party and State, Mai wished the dignitariesand followers good health, peace in mind and continued achievements in theirreligious career. She also thanked them for their contributions to the nationalconstruction and defence.

Informing them of the coming 3rd Vesak day to beheld later this month in Vietnam, the official said over 500 delegations andmany leaders of foreign countries are scheduled to attend the internationalevent, and this is a joy not only to Buddhist organisations and followers inVietnam but also to the party, State and people of the country.

On behalf of the Buddhist dignitaries and followers in CanTho province, Most Venerable Thich Giac Nhuong thanked the Party, State and theVietnam Fatherland Front for their facilitation of the religious practices. Healso pledged to encourage practitioners and followers to remain united aroundthe Party and State in building a developed and beautiful country.

Earlier the same day, Mai also visited prek On Dok in theMekong Delta province of Soc Trang on the occasion.
