– Party General Secretary andPresident Nguyen Phu Trong on October 16 received newly-accredited ambassadorsfrom Sweden, France, Ireland, Sri Lanka, Bahrain, Angola, Laos, Uzbekistan, theRepublic of Korea and Tanzania, and head the European Union (EU) delegation toVietnam.

The foreign diplomats are Swedish Ambassador Ann Margareta Mawe; French Ambassador WarneryNicolas Manuel Jerome; Irish Ambassador John Mc Cullagh; Sri Lankan AmbassadorSampath Prasanna Walpita Gamage; Bahrain Ambassador Ahmed Abdulla AhmedAlharmasi Alhajeri; Angolan Ambassador Agostinho Andre De Carvalho Fernandes;Lao Ambassador Sengphet Houngboungnuang; Uzbekistani Ambassador UlungbekRozukulov; RoK Ambassador Park Noh-wan; Tanzanian Ambassador Mbelwa BrightonKairuki; and head of the EU Delegation to Vietnam Pier Giorgio FedericoAliberti.

At a reception for thediplomats following the credentials presentation ceremony, the Vietnameseleader warmly welcomed them to Vietnam.

He expressed his delight atthe growing relations between Vietnam and the countries and organization that theambassadors represent.

Vietnam is growing stronglyin all fields with a rising position in the world arena, he noted, adding thatthe country will take up the ASEAN Chair in 2020 and non-permanent seat in theUN Security Council in the 2020-2021 period.

The leader expressed hisbelief that the diplomats will successfully complete their tasks, pledging thatVietnam will create optimal conditions for them during their working term inthe country./.
