Hanoi (VNA) – The Petrovietnam University has completed a series of activities under the “Alberta Energy, Oil & Gas Mission to Vietnam 2025”, stepping up international collaboration in the domains and green technology.

Held by the Government of Canada's Alberta, in collaboration with the Consulate General and trade office of the country in Ho Chi Minh City, the event brought together 12 leading Canadian enterprises and educational institutions such as SAIT, CMG, GLJ, Emerson, Alco, and Nano Precise who came to showcase cutting-edge solutions ranging from production optimisation and reservoir simulation to sustainable energy technology development.

A delegation from the PVU had intensive discussions with several Canadian partners, focusing on specific directions for collaboration in human resources training, scientific research, and application of new technologies.

A highlight of the mission was the PVU’s meeting with the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), during which both sides exchanged their notes on a potential strategic partnership to jointly develop high-quality human resources for the energy sector.

Both sides reached consensus on faculty and student exchange programmes, short-term courses with Canadian standards, and the co-development of modern petroleum engineering curricula. The talks were expected to enhance the PVU’s international training and research capacity amidst Vietnam’s ongoing energy transition and international integration.

Another significant outcome came from PVU’s meeting with Computer Modelling Group (CMG), a global leader in oil and gas reservoir simulation software. CMG expressed interest in sponsoring software licences for PVU students, a move that will help improve teaching quality, enhance research capabilities, and expose students to advanced simulation technologies widely used by global energy corporations.

Besides, the university had professional exchanges with multiple corporations, discussing cooperation in such areas as technical research and consulting in low-carbon energy and reserve evaluation, automation and process monitoring solutions, smart surveillance technology, and industrial data analysis.

Dr. Changyoung Shon, a representative from Technobilt, paid a working trip to the PVU to expand cooperation in project management training.

The “Alberta Energy, Oil & Gas Mission to Vietnam 2025”, held in Ho Chi Minh City from October 13-14, served as a key bridge connecting Vietnamese and Canadian stakeholders in trade, technology transfer, and sustainable energy development.

Through the event, the PVU demonstrated its open-minded approach and commitment to advancing international cooperation, expanding relationships with world-class training institutions, research centres, and energy enterprises, contributing to the development of a modern education-research environment that meets the energy sector’s sustainable development requirements./.
