Players to train in South America ahead of 2024 AFC Futsal Asian Cup qualifiers

The futsal team of Vietnam, led by head coach Giustozzi Diego Raul, will gather later this month for training in South America to prepare for the 2024 AFC Futsal Asian Cup qualifiers, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) said on May 8.

Hanoi (VNA) – The futsal teamof Vietnam, led by head coach Giustozzi Diego Raul, will gather later thismonth for training in South America to prepare for the 2024 AFC Futsal AsianCup qualifiers, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) said on May 8.

The Argentinian coach has decided to maintain16 outstanding players among the 23 called for the February gathering and givechances to three new ones basing on their performance.

The team will undergo training at thefutsal gymnasium of District 8 in Ho Chi Minh City. A shortlist of 16 playerswill be announced on May 31.

Their training in South America willstart in Paraguay, where the team will have three friendlies with the Paraguayanfutsal team on June 4, 6, and 8. In Argentina, they will play against the team ofthis country on June 10, 12, and 14.

Paraguay currently rank ninth in theworld’s futsal rankings while Argentina are at the fourth place and also wonthe 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup.

The matches with high-levelrivals will generate considerable benefits for the Vietnamese futsal team, theVFF noted, adding that it is also a result of the VFF’s efforts to help theteam make the best preparations for the 2024 AFC Futsal Asian Cup qualifiers,set to kick off this October./.
