Bangkok (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his spouse and entourage arrived in Don Mueang airport in Bangkok, Thailand, on June 22 for attending the 34th ASEAN Summit.
Welcoming the PM at the airport was Thai Minister of Digital Economy and Society Pichet Durongkaveroj, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Pham Hai Bang, among others.
The 34th ASEAN Summit, scheduled for June 22-23 in Bangkok, is themed “Advancing Partnership for Sustainability”. According to deputy director general of the Department of ASEAN Affairs under the Thai Foreign Ministry Usana Berananda, 17 documents to be acknowledged or endorsed this time all share the central concept of sustainability.
Meanwhile, director general of the Department Suriya Chindawongse said that under Thailand’s leadership, there will be a focus on building a people-centred ASEAN community “that leaves no one behind and looks to the future.
As scheduled, on June 22, PM Phuc will have meetings with Thai PM Parayuth Chan-ocha and Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
Later the same day, he will attend the plenary session of the 34th ASEAN Summit and have a number of high-level meetings.-VNA
