The PM hailed the agency for its impartialcoverage of Vietnam’s socio-economic situation and the Vietnam-RoKrelations, including China’s illegal placement of an oil rig inVietnam’s waters.
He asked Yonhap to continue itsobjective and truthful reporting on developments in the East Sea andVietnam ’s goodwill measures in solving disputes peacefully in linewith international law.
PM Dung voiced his pleasureat flourishing ties between Vietnam and the RoK in various fields,and expressed his support of the cooperation between the Vietnam NewsAgency (VNA) and Yonhap.
In response, Song saidthat his Vietnam visit aims at stepping up the partnership betweenYonhap and VNA. He informed PM Dung that the two news agencies havesigned a new agreement on professional cooperation.
He pledged to exert every effort to bolster the Vietnam-RoK collaboration, contributing to their time-tested relations.
Earlier the same day, VNA General Director Nguyen Duc Loi had talks with Yonhap President Song Hyun-Seung.
The two sides agreed to foster the exchange of experience andinformation on the Vietnamese and RoK communities living in the othercountry.
The agencies also agreed to work closer atmultilateral forums in order to improve the role of media in solvingregional and international issues of mutual concern.
After their talks, VNA and Yonhap inked a new cooperation agreement,focusing on the exchange of news in texts, photos and video clips. Theywill also maintain the exchanges of visits by both senior officials andjournalists.
The VNA and Yonhap signed an agreementon news exchange in September 2007 and a MoU on the exchange ofmulti-media products in 2009.-VNA
