The Party and State always give prominence to the role and position of the youth, considering them a revolutionary cause spearhead, and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union as a reliable reserve team to the Party, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has affirmed.

At a dialogue with the youth (held within the framework of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCMCYU)’s 10 th National Congress) on December 14 in Hanoi to discuss their issues of concern, including human resources development, career guidance, job creation, how to use young talent and build modern rural areas, Dung stressed that youth-related issues are vital to the nation.

The Party and Government have issued policies and guidelines to care for young people’s legitimate rights, as well as their education, training and organisation to become a strong and loyal force for the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and nation, he said.

The PM noted that most young people today have the right goal and ideology, as well as a strong belief in the bright future of the country and the Party and State’s leadership.

The youth union and young people’s pursued goal is the same as that of the party and nation – to build a prosperous people, a strong nation, democracy, equality and firm advancement to socialism, Dung added.

He also highlighted the relationship that exists between the younger generation and the Party, State and nation, which has been tested through the ups and downs of history.

The Government leader stressed the important role of young people in the country’s industrialisation and modernisation to turn Vietnam into a modern industrialised country by 2020.

Regarding the creation of jobs for young people, the PM said Vietnam has youthful and abundant human resources, but of low quality.

As a result, he asked HCMCYU’s Central Committee to listen to young people and propose measures to improve the quality of education and vocational training, focusing on generating jobs for disadvantaged people in rural areas.

The PM expressed his wish for every young person to take responsibility for their education and become skillful workers, contributing to the country’s growing first-rate human resources, and serving the nation’s industrialisation and modernisation.

The Government will continue to invest in, and improve the quality of culture, sport and entertainment services for the whole country, and the youth in particular, he said.

HCMCYU and the youth organisation should uphold their role and drive cultural and sporting activities to serve the increasing demand of young people, he said, calling for young people’s active participation in the country’s socio-economic development.

The Government will do its utmost, together with the Party and people, to care for the younger generation and offer them a better environment to develop, study and relax, the PM pledged.

The 10 th National Congress of HCMCYU wrapped up on December 14.

Nguyen Dac Vinh, alternate member of the Party Central Committee and the First Secretary of HCMCYU Central Committee in its ninth tenure, was re-elected as First Secretary for its 10th tenure.

The Congress sent young people across the nation a message stating that boosting industrialisation and modernisation to turn Vietnam into a modern industrial country is the desire of the youth and the whole nation.

The Vietnamese youth pledged to unite under the flag of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh to develop the country, it said.

Later the same day, a press conference was held to make know the main outcomes of the four-day congress.-VNA
