Beijing (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc received delegates from the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and the China-Vietnam Friendship Association in Beijing on September 13 during his official visit to China.

He reiterated the consistent policy of the Vietnamese Party and State to preserve and promote the traditional friendship and solidarity with China, describing the bilateral special amity as valuable asset for the two countries’ people as well as for regional and global peace and prosperity.

He said he hopes the Vietnamese and Chinese Parties, States, and people will uphold the long-standing and close-knit relations for mutual cooperation and development in the context of complicated changes in the world and regional political and security situation.

The two sides need to actively work together to address disputes related to the East Sea via peaceful means and in line with international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), with respect for diplomatic and legal procedures, the PM said.

He proposed the CPAFFC enhance coordination with Vietnamese friendship organisations to push the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China ahead, while continuously cementing and developing their time-honoured friendship.

President of the CPAFFC Li Xiaolin highlighted the significance of the Vietnam-China traditional friendship, which has been fostered by late Presidents Ho Chi Minh and Mao Zedong and generations of leaders of the two countries.

The association will host more activities to connect the two cultures and create people-to-people forums, she confirmed.-VNA
