Hanoi (VNA) – PrimeMinister Nguyen Xuan Phuc received President of the National Assembly (NA) ofCambodia Samdech Heng Samrin in Hanoi on June 24.

The PM welcomed the Cambodian delegation’sofficial visit to Vietnam on the occasion of the 50th founding anniversary ofthe countries’ diplomatic relations (June 24, 1967).

He also informed the visiting President aboutthe success of the recent working session and meeting with Cambodian PM SamdechHun Sen, who retraced his revolutionary path in Vietnam four decades ago.

The last 50 years is a special period inbilateral relations when the two people were united and ready to sacrificetheir lives for the sake of each other, he said, considering this as apriceless and sacred asset that Vietnamese and Cambodians, especially youngergenerations, must maintain and nurture.

PM Phuc also expressed his sincere gratitude tolate King Norodom Sihanouk, King Norodom Sihamoni and other leaders and peopleof Cambodia for supporting Vietnam in the fight for national liberation in thepast and the national development and protection at present.

Vietnam is happy about Cambodia’s hugeachievements, he stressed, expressing his belief that under the clear-sightedleadership of King Norodom Sihamoni, the Senate, the NA and the Government ofCambodia that is led by the Cambodian People’s Party, the Cambodian people willcontinue to obtain even greater accomplishments in building a country of peace,stability and prosperous development.

Regarding bilateral ties, PM Phuc noted withsatisfaction the continually reinforced and developing friendship andcooperation between the two countries.

Amidst the complex global and regionalsituation, the two sides should further enhance solidarity, friendship andcooperation in economy, trade and investment, while increasing people-to-peopleexchanges, especially between young people.

For his part, NA President Samdech Heng Samrinexpressed his pride in the flourishing bilateral ties. He congratulated Vietnamon its major development attainments and voiced the belief that under theleadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the country will develop morestrongly in the near future.

Applauding the completion of the land borderdemarcation and border marker planting, he said this achievement reflects thecountries’ efforts and resolve to soon finish this task. Both sides willcontinue to finish the remaining work to help ensure peace, stability anddevelopment in Vietnam-Cambodia border areas.

Cambodia thanked the valuable assistance thatthe Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese people have given to theCambodian people in the fight for national liberation and the nationaldevelopment, he added.-VNA
