PM pays tribute to Cambodian King Father

Vietnam's high-ranking delegation paid tribute to Cambodian King Father Norodom Sihanouk.
A high-ranking delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), and the Vietnamese State, National Assembly and Government, led by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, arrived in Phnom Penh on Oct. 19 to pay tribute to Cambodian King Father Norodom Sihanouk.

PM Dung and his entourage laid a wreath to mourn the King Father at the Cambodian Royal Palace.

Afterthe ceremonial, PM Dung met and extended condolences to Queen MotherNorodom Monineath Sihanouk and King Norodom Sihamoni.

He also conveyed the deepest sympathy from CPV General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, State President Truong Tan Sang,National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, formers Vietnamese leadersas well as the whole Vietnamese people to the Queen Mother, the King,the Royal family, leaders of the Senate, National Assembly, RoyalGovernment and the Cambodian people.

Heaffirmed that the Vietnamese people will never forget King FatherSihanouk’s valuable support and contributions to the struggle fornational independence and reunification of Vietnam.

The CPV and the Vietnamese Stateand people will do their utmost together with King Norodom Sihamoni andCambodian leaders and people to further strengthen the solidarity anduphold the traditional friendship between the two countries which havebeen nourished by King Father Sihanouk and generations of leaders ofboth nations.

Queen Mother Norodom MonineathSihanouk and King Norodom Sihamoni expressed their thanks to Vietnameseleaders and people for their sympathy over the great loss of theCambodian Royal family and people.

They also pledged to make further contribution to fostering the fine relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia.

The same day, PM Dung met with his Cambodian counterpart, Samdec Hun Sen.
The two sides affirmed to continue to push up the solidarity andrelations between the two countries, as well as theVietnam-Laos-Cambodia ties.

They also exchanged views on some issues regarding regional cooperation of mutual concern.

Later on the same day, PM Dung and his entourage left Phnom Penh for Vietnam.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, underlined that May 9 is a major holiday for every Russian family and for all nations that fought against fascism. He paid tribute to the immense sacrifices of tens of millions of soldiers and civilians whose contributions on both the front lines and in the rear paved the way for the victory.
