PM: Vietnam works to improve tertiary education quality

Prime Minister NguyenTan Dung made the statement while receiving Professor Ngo Bao Chau,Fields Medal winner, and a dialogue group on education in Hanoi onJuly 29.

PM Dung also stated that the governmentis actively implementing a project on the fundamental and comprehensivereform of education and training at all levels and majors.

He asked Chau, who is Scientific Director of the Vietnam Institutefor Advanced Study in Mathematics, and the dialogue group to continuegiving consultations in order to perfect educational policies.

Chau proposed the Government continue support for his institute’soperation, saying that over the past three years, the institute hasstrived to improve the quality of Vietnamese mathematicians’ scientificresearch by inviting professors from aboard to give lectures.

The dialogue group also suggested that the Government put forthpolicies to encourage Vietnamese scientists overseas to contribute theiropinions to the country’s education and training issues.

The same day, the Government leader also had a working session withthe Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, during whichhe asked the union to help promote the role of intellectuals in thecountry’s industrialisation and modernisation.-VNA

Vietnam to provide tuition support for preschoolers

Ho Chi Minh City addresses manpower shortage for urban railway development

Under the human resources training scheme serving the development of the urban railway network approved by the municipal People’s Committee, the city will need around 70,000 workers by 2030 to support investment in and development of its metro system, including project management personnel, operations and maintenance staff, engineers, technical workers, consultants and designers.
