Hanoi (VNA) – The government will offer all possible support to businesses, start-ups and create jobs to workers, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has said.
He made the statement during a working session in Hanoi on June 28 with Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) to discuss the outcomes of joint work between the government and VGCL and set tasks for 2017-2018.
The PM hailed VGCL chapters at all levels for improving workers’ lives and promptly dealing with workers’ complaints from the central to local level.
VGCL was asked to actively join the government’s mechanism building, with a focus on ensuring rights and interests of workers in the process of building a transparent, constructive and action-oriented government in service of the people and businesses.
The VGCL should step up emulation campaigns to strengthen the working class’s trust in the Party and State leadership while improving the efficiency of social supervision and enforcement of labour laws, he said.
At the same time, it must work with relevant agencies to offer vocational orientations and training to lablourers amid the fourth industrial revolution.
He urged VGCL to hold more dialogues and meetings between the PM, ministers, heads of sectors and workers to acquire their aspirations.
The leader suggested VGCL partner with the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and the National Wage Council to devise a plan on regional minimum wages to submit to the PM for consideration.
He also responded to proposals by VGCL, including amending the Labour Code’s terms regarding extra-work time, retirement age and meals for workers, soon issuing document guiding the enforcement of point 7, Article 10 of the Law on Social Insurance, and providing preferential loans for workers in industrial and processing zones.
In 2016-2017, the PM met and held dialogues with workers in key economic zones in the south and central.
In June, the PM issued Decision 665 approving a project on building trade union institutions in industrial and processing zones. VGCL has built three first trade union institutions in the northern province of Ha Nam, the central province of Quang Nam and the southern province of Tien Giang.-VNA
