The Vietnam Supreme People’s Court and the US Supreme Court are hoped to further cooperation, especially in judicial experience sharing and court personnel training, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung told US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg at a meeting in Hanoi on August 10.
The Government leader said Vietnam has been accelerating judicial reform as well as successfully building a rule-of-law state and protecting justice and human rights. The country is also improving the judicial system in line with the Constitution, he added.
He expressed his pleasure at the positive developments in the Vietnam-US comprehensive partnership, especially since the normalisation of bilateral cooperation 20 years ago.
The PM affirmed that the Vietnamese Government, ministries and sectors will closely work with the US to implement effectively agreements reached by leaders of the two countries during the US visit by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
The US Supreme Court Justice spoke highly of Vietnam’s achievements in judicial reform and legal system improvement, which help build strong, efficient, transparent, and democratic judiciary for protection of human rights and justice.
She said the US Supreme Court is willing to boost cooperation with the Vietnam Supreme People’s Court in all fields, especially sharing experience in appeal conditions and court personnel training.
She revealed more US judges will visit Vietnam in the coming time, adding that the US Supreme Court and the US all-level courts welcome Vietnamese partners to visit the country for experience exchange.-VNA
