Police spokesman unveils suspects’ confessions in Dak Lak gun attacks

Hanoi (VNA) - Spokesman of the Ministry of Public Security Lieut. Gen. To An Xo has unveiled initial information about the confessions of suspects involved in the gun attacks targeting the headquarters of the People’s Committees of Ea Tieu and Ea Ktur communes of Cu Kuin district in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak.

Xo told reporters that the Secretary of the Ea Ktur Party Committee, the Chairman of the Ea Tieu People’s Committee, four police officers and three civilians were killed and a number of other people were injured in the attacks.

To date, 46 suspects have been detained by competent forces with support from local residents, he said.

According to the officer, the suspects have admitted that they were ordered to kill public servants and police officers and rob property and firearms.

Their actions are barbaric and extremely dangerous, resulting in serious consequences, insecurity and disorder in the locality, Xo said, stressing that they need to be strongly condemned and soon handled strictly before the law.

The People's Public Security and competent forces deeply appreciated local people in Dak Lak province for their wholehearted support and assistance in recent days, the spokesman said.

He stressed that the assistance reflected the people’s trust in the Party, State, and armed forces as well as the effectiveness of the “All people protect national security” movement in the locality.
The People's Public Security force believed that after the incident, people in the Central Highlands provinces would heighten vigilance and actively join hands with authorised forces in preventing and combating crimes and counteracting plots of reactionary and hostile forces and criminals which aim to cause insecurity and disorder, and divide the national great unity bloc./.
