Politics academy seeks training cooperation with Switzerland

The Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (HCMA) is looking to expand its collaboration with Swiss educational institutions and policy think-tanks for leadership and management training courses, HCMA Director Nguyen Xuan Thang told Swiss Ambassador to Vietnam Thomas Gass during a working session in Hanoi on May 28.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (HCMA) is looking to expand its collaboration with Swiss educational institutions and policy think-tanks for leadership and management training courses, HCMA Director Nguyen Xuan Thang told Swiss Ambassador to Vietnam Thomas Gass during a working session in Hanoi on May 28.

Thang, who is also Politburo member and Chairman of the Central Theory Council, stressed that Vietnam always treasures its traditional friendship and cooperation with Switzerland.

He expressed his wish for continued cooperation and exchange of delegations across various channels, close liaison at multilateral forums, contributing to peace, stability and development in the region and the world.

The host urged Switzerland to expedite negotiations and signing of a Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).

The HCMA is ready to share expertise with Swiss partners in various fields, especially equitable energy transition, digital transformation, and climate change adaptation through research, seminars, round-table discussions and field trips, he said.

Expressing Switzerland’s commitment to friendship and coordination with Vietnam, Gass vowed to work toward successful joint programmes with the HCMA.

On the occasion, he suggested partnering with the HCMA to hold a seminar marking the 75th anniversary of the Geneva Conventions of 1949.

In reply, Thang endorsed the proposal and affirmed the HCMA's commitment to collaborating with the Swiss Embassy for a successful event./.
