Poor workers receive free travel for Tet

As many as 600 workers at industrial zones in the southern Binh Duong province were provided with complimentary bus to go home for the Tet holiday on February 6.
As many as 600 workers at industrial zones in the southern Binh Duongprovince were provided with complimentary bus to go home for the Tetholiday on February 6.

The scheme organised by theprovincial Federation of Labour aims to help workers from the northernand central provinces enjoy the year’s most important holiday with theirfamily.

Pham Huyen Trang working at Binh Duongindustrial zone said she was happy, and expressed her gratitude to theFederation for the free travel to the central Nghe An province.

Deputy Chairman of the Federation Bui Thanh Nhan said they havearranged more than 10 buses to transfer workers to their home towns,including in northern Lang Son and Yen Bai provinces.

The total cost of providing free travel for the workers is more than 600 million VND (30,000 USD), he added.

The same day, a festival to wrap 7,200 “banh tet” (cylindricalglutinous rice cakes) that will be donated to the poor, orphans, workersand island soldiers was jointly held by the southern Dong Nai provinceand the Dong Nai Food Industrial Corporation (DOFICO).
