Vietnam draw Syria, entering AFC U23 Championship quarterfinals

U23 Vietnam tied goalless with U23 Syria in the last qualifying round match at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U23 Championship in China on January 17, wining a ticket to the quarterfinals.

Hanoi (VNA) – U23 Vietnam tied goallesswith U23 Syria in the last qualifying round match at the Asian FootballConfederation (AFC) U23 Championship in China on January 17, wining  a ticket to the quarterfinals.

The team now ranks second in Group D with four points. The Republic of Korea(RoK) who won U23 Australia 3-2 in a match on the same day ranks first.

On January 14, Vietnam won Australia 1-0 after a win claimed by Nguyen QuangHai. The victory against Australia marked a milestone for the U23Vietnam team in an AFC U23 championship.

In the previous match on January 11, Vietnam lost to RoK 1-2.

The Vietnamese players will face their Iraqi rivals on January 20, who ranksfirst in Group C.-VNA
