Hanoi (VNA) – Chairman of the Party CentralCommittee’s Commission for External Relations Le Hoai Trung had talks via videoconferencewith the Minister of Foreign Affairs and head of the external relationscommission of Singapore’s ruling People’s Action Party (PAP), VivianBalakrishnan, on April 29.

On behalf of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) CentralCommittee, Trung informed the Singaporean official about the outcomes of the party's 13th NationalCongress.

He applauded the recent strides in relations between the twocountries and the two Parties under their strategic partnership, affirming thatthe Vietnamese Party and Government always treasure and wish to furtherintensify the Vietnam-Singapore strategic partnership.

The official also highly valued the ties between the twoParties that have been developing in an increasingly substantive manner in manyaspects such as high-level mutual visits and cooperation in personnel training.

For his part, Balakrishnan once again congratulated the CPVon its successful 13th National Congress, along with the enormousachievements of Vietnam in national development over the past years.

He also hailed the positive outcomes that theVietnamese Party, Government, and people have obtained in combating COVID-19 anddeveloping the economy despite the pandemic’s negative impacts.

The minister noted with satisfaction that the two countries’relations have continued to be reinforced in all fields, and that the PAP andthe Singaporean Government attaches importance to promoting the strategic partnershipwith Vietnam.

He called for increased contact between the countries’leaders, noting that both sides share many similar viewpoints, including thoseon international issues of common concern.

Balakrishnan expressed his belief that under the CPVsleadership, the Vietnamese people will harvest more achievements to developVietnam into a prosperous nation./.

Foreign policy contributes to propelling Vietnam into new era

2024 saw Vietnam significantly expanding its diplomatic activities with numerous partners and at various important multilateral forums and mechanisms. The country’s key leaders conducted a total of 60 external activities, including paying 21 visits to foreign countries and attend major multilateral conferences, as well as hosting 25 delegations of foreign leaders to Vietnam.
