Hanoi (VNA) – Cambodia’s famed Angkor Archaeological Parkattracted 134,152 foreign visitors in the first three quarters of 2022, 20times higher than the figure of the same period last year.

In its statement releasedon October 2, the state-owned Angkor Enterprise said the parkearned 5.36 million USD in revenue from ticket sales during theJanuary-September period, also up 20 times year-on-year.

Located in northwest Siem Reap province, the401-square-km Angkor Archaeological Park, inscribed on the World Heritage Listof the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization(UNESCO) in 1992, is the most popular tourist destination in the SoutheastAsian country.

In a bid to lure more visitors to the park, theCambodian government announced lastmonth that foreigners who have lived in the country for over two years couldapply for one free admission a year to the Angkor and the Koh Ker Temple.

Before the outbreak ofCOVID-19 pandemic, the Angkor received up to 2.2 million international arrivals,raking in 99 million USD in revenue from ticket sales, according to the Angkor Enterprise./.
