Hanoi (VNA) – State President Luong Cuong chaired a working session on March 13 with representatives from the Presidential Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and related agencies to set key tasks for the coming period.

The President highlighted the heavy workload ahead, particularly preparations for major national and Party events and the implementation of Politburo and Party Central Committee resolutions on streamlining the organisational apparatus for greater efficiency. He stressed the need for close coordination, swift action, and high-quality execution once decisions are made.

On foreign affairs, President Cuong praised the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant agencies for their proactive and effective efforts in advancing external relations. He highlighted recent diplomatic activities, especially those at the high level, saying they have helped deepen ties between Vietnam and international partners, while creating shared interests, and strengthening the country’s position.

The President approved the ministry’s proposals for high-level diplomatic initiatives and urged alignment with the 13th National Party Congress Resolution and key documents on foreign affairs and international integration.

He called for focused, practical diplomacy, and balancing outbound and inbound delegations across Party, state, and people-to-people diplomacy. Diplomatic activities must prioritise expanding and deepening relations, maintaining a stable environment for national development, enhancing Vietnam’s global standing, and strengthening the great national unity. These efforts should also support strategic goals, including achieving over 8% economic growth this year, he said.

For high-level diplomatic missions, President Cuong requested meticulous preparation, innovative approaches, and effective programming to ensure their success.

Regarding the 2025 amnesty programme, the President noted the release marking the 50th anniversary of southern liberation and national reunification (April 30, 1975–2025). He urged the government, Supreme People’s Court, Supreme People’s Procuracy, and relevant agencies to ensure the process remains objective, transparent, and fair, meeting political, legal, and humanitarian requirements while contributing to social stability and national development.

Finally, the leader directed the Presidential Office to work closely with relevant agencies in preparing content for the sixth session of the National Defence and Security Council. He emphasised the need for thorough analysis and accurate forecasting of domestic, regional, and global situations to develop timely and effective policy recommendations, ensuring Vietnam remains well-prepared for all eventualities./.
