President Tran Dai Quang visits Vietnamese expats and the embassy staff (Source: VNA) New Delhi (VNA) - The Partyand State always consider overseas Vietnamese an inseparable part of theVietnamese nation and an important resource for national development, saidPresident Tran Dai Quang.
President Quang made the affirmationat a meeting with the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives ofthe Vietnamese community in India in New Delhi on March 4 before wrapping his three-dayState visit to the country.
President Quang hailed the recent achievementsthe embassy has gained and its efforts to successfully organise his visit tothe country.
The President briefed the participantson the nation’s socio-economic achievements, highlighting the successful hostingof the APEC Vietnam Year 2017 and the 25th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting.
He underlined the traditionalfriendship between Vietnam and India, which was founded by late Indian PrimeMinister Jawaharlal Nehru and late Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh, and havebeen nurtured by generations of leaders and people of Vietnam.
The State leader also highlighted thetwo nations’ long-term connections in terms of culture and religion, sayingthat more and more Vietnamese people visit Buddhist places in India.
The establishment of the Vietnam-IndiaStrategic Partnership in 2007, which was upgraded to the ComprehensiveStrategic Partnership in 2016, has proven growing cooperation in the fields ofpolitics, national defence – security, economics – trading, science –technology, and culture – education between the two countries, he said.
President Quang hailed theorganisation of the Friendship Year 2017 in both nations with numerousactivities to mark the 45th founding anniversary of diplomatic tiesand the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam – India StrategicPartnership.
The President also asked AmbassadorTon Sinh Thanh and the embassy’s staff to continue making efforts to developthe Vietnam – India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership more practically in thecoming time, and increase culture, trade and investment promotion activities,thus realising the target of 15 billion USD in two-way trade by 2020.
On the occasion, President Quangpresented a second-class Labour Order to the embassy.-VNA
