President urges ACB to make more contributions

State President Nguyen Minh Triet wishes the Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (ACB) to make a breakthrough in 2010 and more contributions to national development while visiting the bank on Feb. 18, the fifth day of the Lunar New Year.

President Triet expressed his pleasure at the achievements that ACB made during 2009 in the context of financial crisis.

Despite difficulties, the bank’s pre-tax profit exceeded 2.8 trillion VND, 118 billion higher than the set target last year.

ACB’s vision to 2015 is to become Vietnam’s leading financial group and a bank of regional and international scale.

The same day, President Triet paid a Tet visit to Sai Gon JewelryHolding Company (SJC), during which he said he hoped the company willbecome a strong group and a major gold manipulator and dealer with fastand sustainable growth.

Last year, SJC posted a pre-tax profit of 359 billion VND and contributed 100 billion VND to the State budget.

The company was among top 500 Vietnam’s largest enterprises in 2009./.

To further strengthen Vietnam-Belgium relations, especially parliamentary cooperation, both sides agreed to enhance delegation exchanges at all levels, particularly between parliamentary committees and friendship groups. They also pledged to share legislative and supervisory experience, coordinate positions in international organisations, support each other’s candidacies for UN bodies, and effectively implement the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).
