State President Nguyen Minh Triet paid a visit to major general Y Blok E ban, who made significant contributions to the victory in Buon Ma Thuot city 35 years ago, during his tour of the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak on March 10.

The 92-year-old major general led a squad that attacked Buon Ma Thuot city on March 10, 1975, resulting in an historical victory that served as the starting point of the milestone Ho Chi Minh Campaign of the historic Spring Offensive and Uprising of 1975 – an event that secured the country’s re-unification.

The major general used to act as Chairman of the Dak Lak provincial People’s Committee and Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee.

In the tour, President Triet also called on Ama Pheng, former President of the Provincial Fatherland Front.

He visited the vocational training college in Buon Ma Thuot city, the largest of its kind in the Central-Central Highlands region, which trains between 1,500-2,000 skilled workers and technicians a year.

Earlier in the day, President Triet attended a ceremony to mark the 35th anniversary of the victory at Buon Ma Thuot city and Dak Lak’s liberation./.
