Hanoi (VNA) – President Tran Dai Quang hosted separate receptions in Hanoion January 16 for newly-appointed ambassadors of Sudan, Peru, Zambia,Afghanistan, Namibia and Bolivia.

At hismeeting with Sudanese Ambassador Mohamed Elmurtada Mubarak Ismail Siraq,President Quang congratulated Sudan on getting rid of embargo, thus having opportunitiesto expand trade and boost its socio-economic development in the future.

He thankedSudan for cooperating with and supporting Vietnam’s candidacy at multilateralforums such as the UN Human Rights Council in the 2014-2016 tenure and the UNEconomic and Social Council in the 2016-2018 term, and proposed that Sudancontinue backing Vietnam’s bid to run for a non-permanent seat in the UNSecurity Council in the 2020-2021 term.

While laudingthe fruitful results of the second meeting of the Vietnam-Sudan Joint Committeein Hanoi in October 2016, the President suggested the two sides soon organisethe next meeting to seek ways to boost cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture,aquaculture, oil and gas, and telecommunications.

He alsosuggested the Sudan diplomat actively work with Vietnamese ministries andsectors and propose promising cooperation areas, while introducing trade andinvestment opportunities in Sudan to Vietnamese firms.

PresidentQuang took this occasion to ask the ambassador to convey his invitation toSudanese President Omar Al-Bashir to visit Vietnam.

For hispart, the Sudanese diplomat said that his country hopes to learn from Vietnam’ssocio-economic development experiences and to have more new cooperation dealsbetween the two countries in the future.

He alsopromised to further step up bilateral cooperation in different fields,especially in economy and trade.

WelcomingPeruvian Ambassador Augusto Morelli Salgado, President Quang held that in thecoming time, the two nations should promote existing cooperation mechanisms,while expanding cooperative ties in new areas.

He thanked thePeruvian Government for creating favourable conditions for Vietnamese companiesto invest and do business in the country, and suggested the two countriesstrengthen cooperation in the spheres of health, science, education-training,defence-security, and crime prevention and control.

Salgadosaid that the Peruvian Government always welcomes Vietnamese economic groups toinvest in Peru, adding that one of his major tasks during his tenure in Vietnamis to foster bilateral partnership through the Inter-Governmental Committee.

Speaking atthe reception for Zambian Ambassador Walubita Imakando, President Quang held thatin the coming time, the two countries should sign cooperation deals and increasedelegation exchanges to improve mutual understanding and fully tap each other’spotential.

Vietnam iswilling to share experiences in national development, especially inagriculture, to assist Zambia in ensuring food security, he said.

PresidentQuang thanked Zambia for its cooperation with and support to Vietnam atinternational forums, and urged Zambia to back Vietnam’s candidacy for anon-permanent membership in the UN Security Council.

He askedImakando to convey his regards and invitation to Zambian President Edgar Lunguto pay an official visit to Vietnam.

CongratulatingVietnam on its successful hosting of the APEC Year 2017, the Zambian ambassadoraffirmed Zambia’s support for Vietnam’s bid to run for a non-permanent seat inthe UN Security Council.

In themeeting with Afghan Ambassador Janan Mosazai, the Vietnamese leader laudedAfghanistan for its efforts to overcome many difficulties and recordachievements in national development. He affirmed Vietnam’s policy ofsupporting the international community’s efforts in stabilising the situationin Afghanistan.

PresidentQuang expressed his hope for stronger partnership between the two countries inthe future for the sake of their people and affirmed that Vietnam stands readyto share experiences in national construction and development with Afghanistan.

Havingappreciated Afghanistan’s support to Vietnam at multilateral forums, he proposedthat Afghanistan back Vietnam’s candidacy for a non-permanent seat in the UNSecurity Council in the 2020-2021 term.

Mosazaisaid that economic partnership is an important pillar in bilateral relations,adding that Afghanistan expects to strengthen ties with Vietnam in other areas.The ambassador asserted that Afghanistan backs Vietnam’s efforts to become anon-permanent member of the UN Security Council.

MeetingNamibian Ambassador Elia George Kaiyamo, President Quang appraised the country’snational development strategy, which focuses on speeding up industrialisationand boosting the development of micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises inorder to diversify the economy and create jobs.

Vietnam andNamibia should increase the exchange of high-ranking delegations andpeople-to-people exchanges, he said, adding that Vietnam is ready to share itsexperience with Namibia in development areas, especially agriculture.

On thisoccasion, President Quang also called for Namibia’s support to Vietnam’s bid torun for a non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council in the 2020-2021term.

Kaiyamosaid that Namibia wants to expand comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam,especially in the prioritised fields of education, agriculture and environment.

Theambassador stressed that Vietnam is a friend of Namibia, therefore he wouldurge the Namibian Government to back Vietnam’s candidacy for a non-permanentseat in the UN Security Council.

At thereception for Bolivian Ambassador Heriberto Quispe Charca, the State leaderproposed that Vietnam and Bolivia should increase delegation exchanges toreinforce political trust, while continue negotiating new cooperation deals inall fields and improving the efficiency of economic and trade partnership.

Through theambassador, President Quang extended his greetings and invitation to BolivianPresident Evo Morales to pay an official visit to Vietnam.

TheBolivian diplomat stated that his country is determined to foster collaborationwith Vietnam in diplomacy, economy, culture, education, and technology.

Bolivia wantsto export agricultural and mineral products to Vietnam, increase studentexchanges and attract more Vietnamese firms to invest in oil and gas,telecommunications and agriculture sectors in Bolivia.

He told hishost that Bolivian President Evo Morales has planned to make an official visitto Vietnam at a convenient time and expected that President Quang would visitBolivia soon.-VNA

Vietnam, Cambodia step up defence cooperation

Brazilian President begins state visit to Vietnam
