Hanoi (VNA) – The Prime Minister has asked the National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee not to put the demonstration bill in the working agenda of the 13th NA’s 11th session slated for late March.
In a document issued to the media on February 29 regarding several issues of public interest, the Government Office said at the Government’s regular meeting in January, there were still many different opinions on key issues in the bill. Therefore, the bill was not ready to be submitted to the Government’s February meeting for consideration.
The Government Office said the Ministry of Public Security was assigned to chair the bill’s drafting in coordination with relevant ministries and agencies. As this is an important and complicated law, the Government’s Standing Board and the Prime Minister have outlined guidance for the drafting process regarding the ideology, viewpoint and main contents of the law.
On the revised draft law on the press, which was initially scheduled to be adopted in March, the Government Office said supplementary regulations and revisions are being made regarding the management of information websites and social media, in line with suggestions put forward at the recent meeting of the NA Standing Committee.-VNA
