Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on July 2 met voters in An Duong district in the northern port city of Hai Phong to brief them on the outcomes of the recent fifth session of the 13th National Assembly and listen to their opinions and proposals.

The voters expressed their delight with the country’s socio-economic situation, which was improved in the first six months of this year despite the difficult global economy.

Inflation was controlled, the macro-economy was kept stable and the growth rate rose, while social welfare was ensured and external relations activities were eventful, they said.

They gave their opinions on the draft revised Land Law and suggested that the Government should work out adjustments to the agricultural service co-operative model as well as the new-style rural area building programme.

They also voiced their hope that the Government will cut the lending interest rate for poor people and pay more attention to staff in nursery schools.

Highly valuing the precious feedback from the voters, PM Dung affirmed that the Government will continue exerting efforts to fulfil all tasks and targets that the Communist Party of Vietnam, National Assembly and Government set earlier this year. He called for the joint efforts and consensus of the whole country and people of Hai Phong in particular.

He said that through the revised Land Law, the Government will increase supervision to avoid unfinished projects, while developing the agricultural service co-operative model to suit the specific situation of each locality.

The PM stressed that the programme of building new-style rural areas, which specifies the Government policy of agricultural modernisation and industrialisation, is a national task requiring the combined efforts of the Government and every person in Vietnam.

He also confirmed that the Government will direct sectors and ministries to solve voters’ concerns about health insurance for farmers, a lower lending interest rate for the poor and the need for more supporting policies for nursery school teachers and staff.

On the occasion, PM Dung also asked Hai Phong city to accelerate important infrastructure projects, especially the clearance of land to make way for the Hanoi-Hai Phong highway project.-VNA
