Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on May 14 expressed his belief that economic-investment-trade cooperation, especially in green economy and digital economy, will be a driver and a breakthrough of the Vietnam-China relationship.

Addressing a Hanoi seminar with 19 Chinese groups operating in green economy and digital economy, the leader said the meeting, the first of its kind, aims to materialise high-level perceptions reached by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Party General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, who agreed to build the Vietnam-China community with a shared future. - Vietnam co-sponsors and supports the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA)’s historic resolution, and backs the membership of the State of Palestine to the UN, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Vietnam's Permanent Representative to the UN, affirmed on May 13.

Speaking at the UNGA’s emergency special session on the Middle East situation and the Palestine issue in New York, Giang affirmed that Vietnam stands side by side with Palestine in exercising its inalienable right to self-determination and supports its early admission as a full member of the UN. - President Ho Chi Minh's ideology on farmers and agriculture remains intact, and plays an important role in promoting Vietnam's advanced agriculture, a development model for countries with similar conditions such as Bangladesh, heard a recent seminar.

The event was held in Manikganj district by the Vietnamese Embassy in Bangladesh and a group of Bangladeshi researchers on the late leader on the occasion of his 134th birth anniversary (May 19, 1890 – 2024) and the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954-2024). Read full story

- Minister of Public Security General To Lam chaired an official welcome ceremony in Hanoi on May 14 for a high-ranking delegation from Iran’s Law Enforcement Command, led by its commander Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Radan.

Lam said that the delegation’s working visit from May 13-16 is of important significance, contributing to consolidating the good friendship between Vietam and Iran, and strengthening cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Law Enforcement Command of Iran. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has signed to issue a dispatch to relevant ministries, agencies, and localities, asking for strengthened measures to manage electronic cigarettes and heated tobacco.

In the dispatch, the PM noted that despite initial results in the prevention and control of tobacco harms, including an annual average reduction of 0.5% in the regular cigarette use among men, the situation of e-cigarette and heated tobacco use has remained complicated in the community, especially among youngsters, negatively impacting to users’ health. - Vietnam raked in 2.7 billion USD from exporting aquatic products in the first four months of 2024, representing a year-on-year increase of 6%, the Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) has reported.

In April alone, the country’s aquatic product exports reached 770 million USD, a year-on-year rise of 4%. Exports of tuna, tra fish, crab, and shell mollusks all recorded positive growth compared to the same period last year. Read full story

- An immense light festival will be held as part of the Hue Festival 2024 with the support of the French Embassy and the French Institute in Vietnam (IFV), expecting to bring visitors an immersive experience in a fantasy universe of light and sound.
