Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung arrives in Japan

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung arrived in Tokyo in the evening of December 12 (local time), beginning his four-day official visit to Japan to attend the ASEAN-Japan Commemorative Summit and the Mekong-Japan Summit.

Welcoming PM Dung at the airport were Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Hiroshi Fukada, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Doan Xuan Hung and the Vietnamese community in the country.

The visit, made at the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister ShinzoAbe, takes place on the occasion of the 40th anniversary ofVietnam-Japan diplomatic ties, aiming to enhancing and deepening thestrategic partnership between the two countries, especially ineconomics, investment, development assistance, as well as theircoordination at regional and international forums.

Over the past years, the Vietnam-Japan strategic partnership has seenin-depth and concrete development, in which economics is one of thebright spots in their bilateral ties.

Japan is oneof Vietnam’s leading important economic partners and the first in thegroup of most industrialized nations (G7) to recognise its full marketeconomy status (October 2011).

Two-way trade in 2012hit 24.7 billion USD and 22.9 billion USD during January-November thisyear. The two sides set a target of at least doubling their tradeturnover by 2020.

Japan remains theleading ODA donor to Vietnam and ranks first among 101 countries andterritories investing in the country.

The twocountries have also built an efficient partnership in a wide range ofareas including labour, culture-information, education-training,science-technology and tourism.

Withinthe framework of his visit to Japan , PM Nguyen Tan Dung will attendthe summit marking the 40th anniversary of ASEAN-Japan dialoguerelations.

On the edge of the summit, thefifth Mekong-Japan Summit will be chaired by PM Shinzo Abe and attendedby leaders of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand andVietnam.

On December 13, the VietnameseGovernment leader will meet Japan’s leading businesses andassociations operating on economic and scientific-technological fields.-VNA

New regulation on political, ideological work in Party highlighted at national conference

The regulation, adopted at the second plenum of the 14th Party Central Committee and issued as Regulation No. 19-QD/TW on April 8, 2026, marks the first comprehensive and systematic framework governing political and ideological work in the Party. It reflects a new step in theoretical mindset and strong political resolve to enhance Party building as well as the Party's leadership and combat capacity.

Resolution 05 introduces a number of breakthrough viewpoints, positioning inspection and supervision as one of the Party’s most critical leadership functions. It is defined as a mechanism for self-correction and self-improvement, a key tool to control power and uphold Party discipline and order, ensuring that the Party’s guidelines are implemented rigorously and effectively in practice.
