Hanoi (VNA) – A great number of disadvantaged workers across the country have received free tickets to travel home to reunite with family for the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday under a programme launched by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL).

According to VGCL Permanent Vice President Tran Thanh Hai, 30 out of 53 municipal and provincial labour unions which registered to join the programme have responded to the drive.

Apart from free home-coming buses, underprivileged employees will also be presented with gifts, each worth from 300,000 (13.5 USD) to 500,000 VND (22.5 USD).

On this occasion, local labour unions have been organising cultural activities for workers at processing and industrial zones who are unable to return home for Tet.

Under the programme, those enterprises which have cared for the interests of their workers will be honoured.-VNA
