Quang Nam (VNA) – As many as 152 water filters have been presented to 49 schools in Nui Thanh district, the central province of Quang Nam, under a programme that provides clean drinking water for schools.
The machines, worth 4.5 billion VND (193,500 USD) funded by car maker Thaco Truong Hai, were handed over to the kindergartens and primary and secondary schools at an event held at the Le Quy Don Primary School in Tam Hiep commune on February 11.
The activity was part of the clean drinking water for schools programme co-founded by former President Truong Tan Sang and Chairman of the GIBC company Pham Phu Ngoc Trai.
This programme has been carried out since May 2018 with a view to providing clean drinking water for students in disadvantaged areas, thus helping to improve their health. It also aims to promote businesses and social organisations’ coordination with local authorities to boost sustainable development.
So far, the programme has benefited 293 schools with over 90,000 students and teachers nationwide, offering aid worth 15 billion VND (over 644,600 USD) in total.-VNA
