The programme “Noi Vong Tay Lon” (making arms bigger), jointly launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Vietnam Television, raised more than 6.3 trillion VND for the poor in 2010.
The figure was revealed at the live-broadcast programme on Dec. 31.
Present at the function, State President Nguyen Minh Triet hailed the programme as a bridge to connect hearts and actions to help the poor improve their living conditions and have access to medical treatments and educational opportunities.
More than 85,400 houses were built and repaired for poor households in 2010 with funding raised from the Noi Vong Tay Lon programme, as well as the Government’s assistance and even the poor’s efforts.
Since the programme for the poor launched, as many as 1,051,973 houses have been built or repaired for poor households nationwide./.
