Project upgrades Vo Nguyen Giap schools in Dien Bien

A project was kicked off on February 16 to upgrade the primary and secondary schools named after General Vo Nguyen Giap in the northern mountainous province of Dien Bien.
A project was kicked off on February 16 to upgrade the primary andsecondary schools named after General Vo Nguyen Giap in the northernmountainous province of Dien Bien.

Theproject has received total investment of 10 billion VND (476,000 USD)from the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam.

Under the project, each of the two schools in Muong Phang commune,Dien Bien district, will have a new two-storey building with sixclassrooms and one staff house.

The work is expectedto be completed and handed over on the occasion of the 60 thanniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory on May 7, 2014 .

General Vo Nguyen Giap was former commander-in-chief of the VietnamPeople’s Army, who played a major role in the country’s two resistancewars against the French colonialists and US imperialists.

In particular, his name is closely associated with the Dien Bien Phubattle in Dien Bien province, which became a global event that surprisedthe whole world and helped end the Vietnamese nation’s nine-year war ofresistance against the French colonialists.-VNA
