Da Nang (VNA) – Da Nang city’s railway station welcomed 900 passengers on the Reunification Train with two additional services from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City for the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the country’s Reunification Day.
Ahead of the commemoration, about 400 passengers arrived at Da Nang station on one of the special trains, while 500 carried on their way to the commemorations in HCM City after a five-minute stop.
Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR) said the two services, which departed from Hanoi (SE1) and HCM City (SE4) on April 29, were more than just a special service to mark the Liberation of the South.
Passengers on the two trains from Hanoi and HCM City received gifts from the VNR and the Da Nang People’s Committee during the stop in the central city.
The rail company added that more than 1.000 Vietnamese veterans, war invalids and social policy beneficiaries enjoyed a 40% discount off the daily ticket price on the North-South trains.
The VNR had put on two extra services in addition to the five times a day trains on the Hanoi-HCM City route between April 29 and 30, in response to the increasing demand of travellers from North to South during the five-day holiday.
Last year, the VNR also introduced the ‘Central Heritage Connection’ train linking the two favourite tourism destinations of Hue and Da Nang cities./.
