Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has asked each revolutionary public security officer to place national and public interests above others in any circumstance, deserving the solid “steel shield” of the Party, State and people.

Addressing the 77th National Public Security Conference in Hanoi on December 27, Chinh hailed the public security force for scoring more achievements this year than last year. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, they braved difficulties and challenges to maintain social safety and order in quarantine areas and join in goods transportation, making important contributions to taking care of people’s material and spiritual lives.

He stressed that their every activity must closely follow the absolute and comprehensive leadership and directions of the Party and the management of the State, thus effectively performing the central task of socio-economic development, maintaining political stability and stepping up the fight against “internal enemy”, firmly safeguarding national defence-security and protecting Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity.

They were required to actively grasp the situation and give advice to the Party and State about timely directions and measures, especially strategic consultations, prepare options in reponse to any situation that threatens national and public interests, political security, social safety and order, as well as thwarts every plot and sabotage activity by hostile and reactionary forces.

As reported at the event, the public security force advised the Party and State to issue a number of important policies and measures to ensure socio-economic development and external relations, quickly and flexibly switch to new state in the fight against COVID-19. They also played a key and pioneering role in combating the pandemic.

The conference will last till December 29./.
