Washington D.C (VNA) – The US side paid special attention to the visit by Minister of Public Security To Lam given it will step up cooperation in security, one of the pillars of the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and the US, and the bilateral ties in general, said Ambassador of Vietnam to the US Ha Kim Ngoc.

The diplomat made the statement at the meeting in Washington D.C on April 22 between the Vietnam Embassy’s staff with Politburo member and Minister of Public Security To Lam and his ministry entourage during the latter’s visit to the US.

Minister To Lam told the staff about the outcomes of cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security with US agencies, saying the cooperation has been strengthened in the fields of anti-terrorism, the combat against criminals related to drugs, high technology, the environment, and human traffickers, and the hunt of wanted criminals.

He hailed the embassy’s staff for soundly performing their role in enhancing the bilateral ties, suggesting them continue to help with the cooperation between ministries, sectors and localities of the two countries, and implement citizen protection work and legal right protection for Overseas Vietnamese, among others.

The same day, Lam held a working session with the Vietnamese Permanent Mission to the UN, detailing Vietnam’s security and order in early 2019 and the outcomes of work between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the UN over the years.-VNA
