Quang Ngai hails NGOs’ contributions

The central province of Quang Ngai appreciates contributions by foreign non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to its socio-economic development and poverty reduction, a provincial leader has said.
The central province of Quang Ngai appreciates contributions byforeign non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to its socio-economicdevelopment and poverty reduction, a provincial leader has said.

At a meeting with representatives from foreign NGOs on October 4, ViceChairwoman of the provincial People’s Committee Dinh Thi Loan said thatthe NGOs have also helped increase understanding about the land,people, history and culture of Quang Ngai as well as strengthen thefriendship between the province and the international community.

Their activities have contributed to promoting the image of afriendly, hospitable and reliable Quang Ngai province in the eyes ofinternational friends, she added.

According to Loan,the meeting offers a chance for NGO representatives to review theimplementation of programmes and projects as well as propose solutionsto their difficulties.

The province also takes this occasion to call for more assistance from NGOs to several prioritised areas.

In 2012 and the first nine months of this year, 28 foreign NGOspledged to provide over 128 billion VND (6.1 million USD) for 78programmes and projects in the province.

Next year, Quang Ngai targets to lure 70 billion VND (3.3 million USD) from the organistations.-VNA
