Quang Ninh (VNA) – The People’s Court of the northern province ofQuang Ninh on October 22 began the first-instance trial for four Chinese nationalsunder the charge of “using a computer network, telecommunications network, orelectronic device to appropriate property”.

The four defendants, Zheng Ren Xien, Feng Yu He, Wang Tao, and Li Dan Yang,were arrested in February for using fake cards to withdraw money from local ATMbooths.

The provincial People’s Court decided to hand out prison sentences to the defendants.Zheng and Wang each got four years and six months in prison, while Feng wassentenced to five years and six months of imprisonment, and Li five years injail.

According to the verdict from the local people’s procuracy, Zheng was caughtred-handed by the provincial police while withdrawing cash with counterfeitcards at an ATM in Hong Gai ward, Ha Long city on February 22. As many as 29bank cards, 323 CNY (46.5 USD), and more than 57 million VND (2,400 USD) wereseized.

Later that day, local police in collaboration with the border guards at MongCai International Border Gate arrested Zheng’s three accomplices who wereattempting to leave for China via the border gate. –VNA
