Quang Ninh hopes to welcome 12 million tourists in 2018

The northern coastal province of Quang Ninh, which hosts the National Tourism Year 2018, hopes to welcome 12 million visitors this year, including five million foreigners, and earn 22 trillion VND.

Quang Ninh (VNA) – The northern coastal province of Quang Ninh, whichhosts the National Tourism Year 2018, hopes to welcome 12 million visitors thisyear, including five million foreigners, and earn 22 trillion VND (968 millionUSD).

Director of the provincial Department of Tourism Pham Ngoc Thuy said the agencywill cooperate closely with localities to make the National Tourism Year 2018,themed “Ha Long – Heritage, Wonder – Friendly Destination” a successful event.

It will strengthen management on tourism business environment, strengthened,particularly the operation of local travel agencies; while expanding tourist spaceand developing agricultural and community-based tourism products in a number oflocalities, including Binh Lieu, Uong Bi, Dong Trieu districts.

Besides, numerous infrastructural projects will be put into operation in 2018,such as Van Don international airport, Ha Long – Hai Phong and Ha Long – Van Donexpressways, while the construction of large-scale ecotourism complexes will belaunched in the province in the year, hoping to lure more tourists to QuangNinh.

During the New Year holidays from December 30, 2017 to January 1, 2018, theWorld Heritage Site of Ha Long Bay welcomed nearly 34,000 visitors, up 12percent from the same period last year, including 28,310 foreigners, accountingfor 83 percent of the total tourist arrivals.

In the first day of 2018, the special national relic sites of Yen Tu andTran Dynasty served 1,500 and 800 visitors, respectively.

In 2017, the province accommodated 9.87 million arrivals, including 4.28million foreigners, up 18 percent and 23 percent year on year, respectively.

The sector earned over 17.88 trillion VND (786.9 million USD), up 30 percentyear on year, and contributed 3.2 trillion VND (140.8 million USD) to the Statebudget, accounting for 11.9 percent of the local budget collection.-VNA

Under the plan, visitors will enjoy free entry to the Ho Citadel World Heritage Site from February 12 to 17, 2026 (from the 25th day of the 12th lunar month to the first day of the Year of the Horse). Meanwhile, free entry to the Lam Kinh Special National Relic will be available from February 16 to 19, 2026 (from the 29th day of the 12th lunar month to the third day of the Year of the Horse).

National Tourism Year – Gia Lai 2026 to open in March

A wide range of activities, including festivals, cultural and sporting events, promotional campaigns, market linkages, investment promotion; community-based, creative, and experiential activities, will be structured around quarterly themes to maintain momentum and broad appeal.
