Quang Ninh spends 13 trillion VND on building new style rural areas

The northern province of Quang Ninh has invested over 13 trillion VND (572 million USD) in implementing the national strategic programme on new-style rural area in 2017.

Quang Ninh (VNA) – The northern province of Quang Ninh has invested over 13trillion VND (572 million USD) in implementing the national strategic programmeon new-style rural area in 2017.

The amount includedover 1.2 trillion VND (52.8 million USD) sourced from the State budget,accounting for 9.3 percent.

The rest wasmobilised from different resources, including enterprises, agencies, andparticularly residents, whose contribution exceeded 458 billion VND (20.15million USD).

The figureshows the active participation of residents in the programme launched by theGovernment and localities.

According tothe provincial board for the new-style rural area building programme,111 communes in the province have completed 14 out of 20 criteria, by the endof 2017, on average, up an average of 2.3 criteria from 2016.

In June thisyear, 17 communes registered to complete the programme in 2017.  As of now, they have basically met allcriteria under the programme, according to local reports.

In 2018, theprovince aims to have at least 12 additional communes fulfill the programme’srequirement.

At the sametime, communes recognised under the old set of criteria for new-style ruralareas will strive to meet the new criteria next year.

Theprovince’s annual income per capita is expected to range between 30-45 millionVND (1,320 – 1,760 USD), while the poor household rate falling by 0.3 – 0.7percent in the year.

The national target programme onbuilding new-style rural areas, initiated by the Vietnamese Government in 2010,sets 19 criteria on socio-economic development, politics, and defence, aimingto boost rural regions of Vietnam.     

The list of criteria includes the development ofinfrastructure, the improvement of production capacity, environmentalprotection, and the promotion of cultural values.
