Quang Ninh to start work on bridges over Cua Luc Bay this month

The northern province of Quang Ninh plans to start work on two bridges spanning Cua Luc Bay later this month to help foster the development of Ha Long city.

Quang Ninh (VNA) – The northern province of QuangNinh plans to start work on two bridges spanning Cua Luc Bay later this monthto help foster the development of Ha Long city.

Cua Luc 1 will have a total length of 4.2km with the mainbridge 290m long, while Cua Luc 3 will be over 2.8km long, including 160m ofthe main bridge.

The six-lane bridges will allow maximum speeds of 60km perhour and are set for completion in 2022.

Both have total investment of more than 3.85 trillion VND(164.8 million USD) funded by the local budget, according to the Quang Ninhmanagement board of civil and industrial construction projects.

Since Hoanh Bo district was merged into Ha Long city in Januarythis year, the city has adopted a multi-polar development strategy with Cua LucBay at its centre.

To create conditions for development acceleration, QuangNinh decided to build three bridges over Cua Luc Bay, firstly Cua Luc 1 and 3.

The two bridges are expected to help expand the urban spaceto attract more investment in industrial parks and urban development projectsin Ha Long, create momentum for socio-economic development, and ease traffic onBai Chay Bridge and National Highway 18 in the city. They will also help form achain of forest and sea tourism to tap into local potential./.

Binh Thuan ramps up measures to combat IUU fishing

According to the Binh Thuan Department of Agriculture and Environment, the province has completed registration for all “three-no” fishing boats - vessels without registration, licences or monitoring systems - measuring six metres or more. About 2,710 such vessels have been registered, meeting 100% of the ministry’s requirements and 2,012 operational vessels have been fitted with VMS devices.

Vietnam, US hold 169th repatriation ceremony for American MIA servicemen

At the ceremony, Vietnam handed over four boxes containing remains recovered during recent joint excavations in Hue city, and Quang Tri and Kon Tum provinces. Preliminary forensic analysis on April 15 suggested the remains may belong to US MIAs and they will be sent to Hawaii for further identification.

Second government legislation meeting reviews draft bills
