Quang Ninh welcomes 3 millionth international tourist

The northern province of Quang Ninh has welcomed its 3 millionth international tourist in 2024. The province aims to achieve a target of 19 million tourist arrivals this year, including over 3.5 million international visitors, which will set a strong foundation for growth in 2025 and beyond.

The 3 millionth international tourist arrived aboard the Viking Orion cruise ship, which is sailing along the Asian coast. The ship traveled from Hong Kong, China, to Ha Long, Quang Ninh.

The figure of 3 million international tourists marks the highest number achieved by Quang Ninh since 2020.

In the first nine months of 2024, Quang Ninh received a total of 15.64 million visitors, including 2.591 million international tourists.

Notably, the province recently endured the severe effects of Typhoon Yagi. However, the province's tourism has quickly recovered, stabilizing to welcome visitors soon after the storm.

As part of the programme, tourists aboard the Viking Orion will visit Ha Long Bay, the Quang Ninh Museum, and various tourist attractions in the province on October 21 and 22.

The upcoming 2024-2025 cruise season is projected to see over 60 cruise ship arrivals in Hạ Long, bringing in around 100,000 visitors, including high-end vessels such as Viking Orion, Costa, Seven Seas, Noordam, Celebrity Solstice, Le Lapouser, Seabourn, and Mein Schiff.

By the end of 2024, nearly 20 cruise ships are expected to arrive in Hạ Long, including those carrying large numbers of passengers, such as Costa Serena (3,500 passengers from Hong Kong, China), Celebrity Solstice (2,800 passengers from Europe and the U.S.), and Mein Schiff 6 (2,500 passengers from Germany and Europe)./.
