Vietnam Customs inaugurated a container scanner system at the Lao Bao International Border Gate in the central province of Quang Tri on Dec. 28.

The system was a part of a 10 million USD grant funded by the Japanese government to five countries in the Mekong Subregion, sourced from ASEAN-Japan cooperative funds, which aims to enhance customs management in the East-West economic corridor region.

It is expected to shorten time for customs clearance and contribute to promoting trade, tourism and foreign investment in the region as well as realising the deployment of a one-stop customs model and the implementation of Vietnam customs’ commitment in the framework of the World Customs Organisation and ASEAN./.
