Downpours battered China’s southern provinces of Sichuan, Chongqing, Guizhou, Jiangxi, Guangdong and Hunan, triggering flash floods and mud-rock flows.
The Office of State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters has ordered local authorities to closely monitor the development of rainstorms, prevent epidemic diseases while dispatching work teams to the storm-hit regions to help in the relief effort.
In Chongqing alone, the death toll has climbed to 31 with 190 injured, another still missing and more than 70,000 residents had to relocate.
Meanwhile Yemen’s Interior Ministry had to declare a red alarm after a torrential rain storm hit the capital city of Sanaa, killing seven people, leaving many injured, destroying 200 houses and causing traffic jam./.
